It is the latest of five rovers from the US and will soon be joined by Tianwen - 1 from China. Others such as ESA and Japan are also on the cards.
Leeds Highways Agency has become so concerned at the number it is sending up a team to install traffic lights, speed bumps, humps and chicanes to keep the Mars surface safe. "Slower speeds make for safer streets" a spokeswonk said. When asked about the potholes he said they were looking into them.
Will the rovers find signs of ancient or even present life? It is a long shot but the conditions were apparently there on Mars billions of years ago. The same is also true for some of the moons of Jupiter and Saturn but so far nothing has been found. We have also located about 5000 exoplanets but only 34 of them are in the Goldilocks zone where water (ice, fluid or vapour) can exist and even they look to be too extreme.

) when I was nine - the John Glenn thing. Never wanted to be an astronaut but really wanted to work on planes or rockets. I had books, pictures, card collections, blueprints, star charts - a right geek. 
Managed the aircraft side but sadly not the rockets.
