Hate in politics

There is entirely too much hate in politics imo, and it's getting worse. Some people think it's legitimate just to hate someone because they vote Tory. In the USA a Republican senator was shot at baseball practice by someone who hates Donald Trump. On our own TV I've seen people screaming at Theresa May that she's a "murderer".

This is hysterical nonsense and it has to stop. May is not a murderer.

if we go on like this will all the people who hate May and the Tories start yelling foul when people start "hating" them? Just because they vote a different way?

And others think it is OK to hate Labour, LibDems, SNP, Remain, Leave... it is not unique to the Tories.

But is it real *hate* or just another expression of frustration with politics?

May is obviously not a murderer, but if I had lost a loved one or had someone still missing and unaccounted for from the Grenfell Tower inferno it might not take too much in the heat of the moment for me to describe her as one.

Yes, I don't think it is really hate, as you say. It is an expression of frustration with the way
politics is conducted today, and the way in which newspapers present the news - in what
seems to be deliberate attempts to affect the way it's readers feel about a particular party.

Absolutely this, Aggers, and include the TV News, the bias in which is really winding me up.

But politicians are not blameless for the public's response to them; the cult of personality fostered by Tony Blair and the multitudinous expenses scandals have only exacerbated the dislike.
