Remember Emmanuel Macron the fellow who is now President of France, the one who started a new party, the one nobody had ever heard of?
Well his new and untried and untested party looks likely to gain a majority in the French legislative elections. Macron's Republic On The Move is seen as winning 31%, Republicans at 22% and the National Front with 18%, the rest were nowhere.
This begs the question: Have the French turned their backs on traditional politics and parties? The supplementary is: Will other countries follow suit?
European countries are awash with a broad spectrum of niche parties and they are all taking votes from the old left and right, and with many of those countries having some form of PR those parties all get a bit part to play.
I wonder how it will all unfold in the next few years or decades.
