TV and Responsibility

I am broad minded, however I think there is a limit when it comes
to what is acceptable on TV, when youngsters can obviously
Tune into programmes like Coronation St to witness the nauseating performance
of the supposed vicar and another male actor kissing each other passionately,.I can accepet
That our society Is entitled to be transsexual, homosexual, cross dressers, exhibitionists, whatever they wish
But there surely is a limit when it comes to these programmes being shown at 7.p.m. onwards
Why does the BBC sink so low as they have in the production of Big
Brother and another programme where those involved are witnessed
( I won't write making love) but having sex with all the people in the "show" looking on,
I am broad minded, I have watched part of these programmes in amazement, not excitement I might add.!!!
wondering how the parents of these exhibitionists must feel, sickened at the filthy language,
and the exhibitions performed. The point of this post is that children can watch these nauseating
programmes in the privacy of their bedrooms.No wonder so many youngsters are beyond control,
That filthy language is par for the course these days, bullying and mental problems are rife
We also hear of children being raped by youngsters, is it any wonder. "The BBC has a lot to answered for."

I find the so-called reality shows such as Big Brother just ridiculous, I would rather watch paint dry, but I do enjoy the soaps. However, children should not be watching in my opinion, more because of the violence than any kissing scenes! Why don't parents switch off if the scenes are unsuitable? Parents are responsible for their children's viewing habits, not the TV companies.

My simplistic view is that there are some things in real life which young children should not be subjected to. We once had a working watershed to try to make that the case. That seems to have flown the coop and now anything goes.

I do believe that broadcasters could be a bit more conservative with some topics, but a roll-back is now impossible. In the modern world a child's access to unsuitable media is everywhere 24/7. Without totalitarian and draconian measure from parents and the authorities alike things will not improve. I cannot see either side acting in unison any time soon.

"Gayness" seems to be being promoted now as if it makes you something special. Gay people are just people like the rest of us, with a different kind of lifestyle. They are not more special, more exciting, more trendy, they are just people.

Incidentally, I believe that the actor playing Todd is actually a straight man with a wife and children.

Rodo I wouldn't even say lifestyle. Lifestyle you can change relatively easily. It is their sexual orientation which is different. Their lifestyle they choose. There is nothing wrong with their sexual orientation so long as the person they are with shares it. Their lifestyles, on the other hand, often need censure but we're never allowed to do that because it would be "hate crime"...

To me the TV has decided that they will take on the role of parents in "educating" the 5-14 age group. The problem with that is nobody gave them the right to do that and most of them are a bunch of libertarian idiots who I would not trust with a 5 year old teddy bear let alone a 5 year old child.

The end result was predictable. The problem is that once the innocence is gone in children it's gone and you can't put it back. We should have been protecting our children and their innocence until a time when they were emotionally mature enough to lose it.

The media talks reams about protecting children but their programming speaks a whole world of other beliefs. Many of them are scum and I want little to do with them.

I have nothing against gay men or women Kaz, what I find offensive, is the blatant sexual activity that is produced to be shown on
TV these days , it is not erotica, it is not sensual, in my opinion it is a show of what society has been reduced too.
We also observe on any programme where there is a gathering of stars on occasion, the more they show, the better they think they look, now days we observe our teenage girls with their skirts up to their backsides on nights out drunk, and one wonders why rapes take place, by males, and those whose views of young girls have been restricted to observing just " one" or "two " eyes .

i don't agree with you Kate as regards the girls dress.I think it's a culture problem

here we don't have a rape problem even though the girls are wearing ? a hell of lot less than UK girls

Which ever way you look at it, there is no doubt that morels are going downhill at a fast rate.

If things get much worse it will soon be good advice not to have any offspring,

I certainly wouldn't want to now bring an innocent baby into this cesspit of civilisation.

It would help if steps were taken to clean up the Internet, as well as the TV.
