But, yes, it mystifies me how people cannot work things out with the much simpler metric / decimal systems (I had a brain freeze earlier, age related ) We now have so much "help" from technology that we cannot think for ourselves. It's a big worry.

Honestly it's like numeric dyslexia. I can see it after it is calculated but I can't see it before. It is a real PITA especially in my job. If it wasn't for the fact that I have negotiating, organising and influencing skills, I'd be out of a job. Numbers others can do and we use spreadsheets so I'm working with pre defined formulae.

I can write the code to manipulate the numbers, read the results and recognise if they are right or wrong. Crunching the numbers manually, for me, is a really long slog.

Excellent Saundra. Good result. It is amazing what a bit of influence can do. I had a set to during the financial crisis when I had a mortgage company saying the were going to foreclose on my Daughters home. I told them that I believed they were going after people with equity in the homes to save their own asses, leaving those without equity alone and that I was going to the press and I had contacts to do so.

They panicked and backed off.
