I have reluctantly come to the same conclusion Saundra. If there is a people's vote I will vote again, and I will vote in the same way. However, I don't know who I would vote for in a general election. Whilst there are undoubtedly dedicated MPs across the board, I have no confidence in any of the parties.

There was a by-election in Newport yesterday. Turnout was 37.1%, almost half that of the GE vote. The winner had 39.6% of those who voted or 14.7% of the electorate.

If those sorts of figures are replicated nationally in a GE, and they could well be, we might end up with a government supported by way less than 20% of us.

Momentum for proper PR might build again, especially if there is a hung parliament.

Well these EU politicians have been stirring things up in the UK so maybe they will like a taste of it themselves

Absolutely! 100%.

The EU held a snap referendum to kick the UK out and it was passed by 27:1 with the UK being the only one against. The EU then kept kicking us in the gonads till we agreed, against our will, to go. We were to be allowed a bit of kicking and screaming to save face so long as we eventually left them in peace.

That's definitely how history will present Brexit coz it's the truth: innit.

Well said Frank, it's hardly the fault of the EU that Cameron called for a referendum, to suit his own political ends, and it backfired spectacularly

I am all for revoking A50, with the proviso that it is to allow for a re-set of the whole procedure so that a well planned and detailed vision of "Leave" can be formulated and taken forward. We have already done enough damage to EU / UK relations that to remain "as is" is not an option, IMHO. Many of the 27 will not now trust us to be willing members and that will make alliances difficult if not impossible to achieve.

This has surely got to be the most sensible way forward now. However, it's beyond the intelligence of most MPs to recognise it.

For the EU, there must be a tipping point at which the economic and political damage created by this complete shambles of Brexit suddenly looks a more attractive option than keeping the UK inside the club. Macron has already intimated it, but as the overall slow-down in world trade generally is apparently starting to hit the German economy, they still want to keep "smooth" trading relations with us, so they are not there yet awhile.

I sincerely hope this latest ploy of an extension to 30th June 2019 is rejected by the 27. It should be a long extension - to 2021 - or we should leave now with no deal, for better or for worse, and put the whole thing to bed.

I haven't voted for a "Mainstream" party for ages, Saundra, because I've never liked any of them - I've always voted Independent, UKIP or Monster Raving Looney - i.e. a party without a cat in whotsit's chance of being elected. I see no particular reason to change tack now ….
