The point is they didn't have to weed this one out, did they? He quite happily posted his thoughts on an open web site. What makes his comments worse, imo, is the sheer ignorance behind them. He appears to believe that people with Downs or spina bifida have no value and will always be burdens. He is obviously so ignorant that he doesn't realise that people with Downs, etc can be, and often are, productive members of society.
Even if they weren't productive members of society they are still valuable to their families and friends.

UKIP have now suspended this idiot but only because of the backlash against his comments-originally they were supportive of him.

Baroness Warnock a committed advocate of euthenasia for the elderly no questions asked... like it or lump it.. "And she is getting her way with PATHWAY Kaz.. These nutters are in all parties.. I shall certainly consider UKIP very strongly having been a life long Conservative

I'm not sure your comments above are 100% correct, Kate. I have never seen her make calls for the elderly to be euthanised wholesale...what she did suggest was the euthanasia option for those with dementia. Yes, it is mainly the elderly who get dementia but not all of the do thus it's wrong to say it applied to all the elderly. I don't support her views at all-at what stage does a dementia sufferer lose the ability to make an informed choice, etc? However I do think it is important to stick to the facts re her ideas.

As for the UKIP, no thank you, I'd rather vote for the Raving Looney Party of old than give my vote to UKIP.

Read up on her articles Shaz, that people with dementia are wasting peoples lives... There is no doubt that she considers Pathway an excellent way to get rid of the aged and infirm who according to the NHS and indeed government are a burden on society and the tax payers. She is an advocate of Pathway.. Incidently as I mentioned in a previous post a friend in her 80's has been denied chemo or radiotherapy following surgery a masectomy.. Just one of what is becoming thousand...

Yep Shaz, he's an idiot and obviously is not comfortable with any kind of handicap. You find these people in all walks of life but they are only dangerous when they get power. However that is the job of the press, to make sure they never get power.

The UKIP think that Human Driven Global Warming is a hoax pushed on us by the EU. I happen to feel it is the most serious challenge ever to face the human race in the last 120 thousand years, since the last ice age reduced us from millions to 1,000 souls.

It won't stop me voting for them if I can use them to get a beneficial result at an election. That is what politics is all about. Using people to get stuff done which will benefit the masses in the long run.

There was a sideband article on Sky news about the upsurge of UKIP. A poll of polls put them in third place behind Labour and the Tories, but above the LibDems.

An analyst from one of the major pollsters had run the numbers, and the possible outcome of a GE. It turns out that there would be a hung parliament, with UKIP as the King makers. Then it got interesting.

UKIP would not join with the LDs or Labour, but without them the left would not get in. The natural ally would be the Conservatives, but UKIP would demand certain things and would certainly not be as compliant a partner as the LDs. It was noted that a lot of those conservative Conservatives on the right of the party would quite happily go with UKIP's demands.

The feeling was that UKIP would not be afraid of pulling the plug on a coalition if it felt that it was being taken for granted.

Interesting times indeed.

I have read her articles, Kate, and that is why I know she didn't say all elderly should be euthanised! As for her being an advocate of Pathway-so am I. However I advocate it in the way it was originally planned and not how it's been adapted.

Anyway back to the UKIP- I don't believe they will majorly impact on British politics by the time of the next election. I think along the way they may gain in minor elections as a form of protest vote, but I firmly believe that it will be a very long time before there is a viable alternative to the Labour or Tory party.

Which is extremely sad news. We need more choice now. The Lib Dems represent nobody by trying to represent everybody but Tories. Labour has lost it's Cause Celebre and the Tories are, like the Lib Dems, trying to please instead of to govern.....

So, unless we get some more choice, then we're going the way of nearly every other EU government..... A very sad day for the British Isles who has stood away from all that for more than 300 years. Or at least not stood away but lead the way. To become of a follower of mediocrity is not a strength.

I couldn't agree more. We are in a period of political lethargy and we desperately need something to shake us out of it ....

We are also in a period of political distrust and we need someone, somewhere to give us something to believe in. I'm not saying Farage is the ideal solution, but any port in a storm, as they say, and he's the only lighthouse on the headland at present.
