Watching the news this morning it seems it wasn't
What have they achieved
Except a total lose of life
The Taliban will still be there nothing will alter
In my opinion

It was never really clear to me what we were doing there in the first place.
One minute it was to stop Al Quaeda training there, then it was to stop the opium crop, then something else.
No, I don't think it was worth it at all.

no it was'nt.only done to to make M.P's look important

total waste of life of servicemen

Afghanistan will revert to their way of life--but politicians will continue to say -did'nt we do well-

Either let the troops do what they train for or don't get involved, can't have a bunch of M P's trying to run a war

A waste of British lives, money and resources, and if anything the UK is less safe than it was before we started.

Goodness knows what will happen in the region now we are gone. Is nuclear Pakistan safe?

They are even having to dismantle the memorials to the fallen comrades so they won't be desecrated :( Six months down the line it will be as though we'd never been there, dirt, sand and a Stone Age mentality - except that 450 UK families have lost a loved one and thousands are now living with disability :( :(

I never understood the point of it. Life will go on exacetly as before except for the wives and mothers who have lost their loved ones.

In my opinion it was go in on the ground or nuke the place. The international community, post 9/11, effectively said to the US that so long as they were measured about it any retaliation went.

So I guess my question is, "was it worth the lives not to uncork the Nuclear genie?".

The sad part is I'm not sure. If they had use Nuclear weapons, things would have changed all over the world. Some for the better some for the worse. But the chance of a retaliation in kind would have been much higher. Was it worth it to keep a Nuclear Iran or North Korea bottled up?

Maybe.

In my opinion a definite "no it was not worth the death of one of my serviceman or woman, or the lives of the innocent Afghans who were killed.
We can thank the liar Blair who PRETENDED afghanistan was invaded to get rid of the poppy fields whose crops are more prolific now than they ever were. And that word democracy. We now have servicemen living rough on the streets, on drugs never hear much about these abandoned men and yes women, and those limbless who are given medals to humour them and ease their pain.. And look at B'liars other success, the destruction of a great country regardless who was in power based on disgraceful lies. And the man has made millions from those lies, a portfolio beyond ones imagination. I well remember the days when their theme tune was "I ...I who have nothing" he could not afford to pay his mortgage like his now millionaire Mandy Mandelson who was exposed when trying to borrow cash from Robinson.
