Miliband promises that nobody will have to wait more than one week for cancer tests.

Great so it's the test which are the problem is it? We lost Mrs S closest friend to cancer. They grew up together and had been friends for over 60 years. She was diagnosed at the earliest possible point when she went in for a bladder scan for an entirely different issue.

It wasn't the tests which killed her. It was the 6 months before treatment began and the six months between each treatment regime, which killed her.

In France you don't wait more than one week for _treatment_ which means that the cancer survival rate in France is higher than the UK.

Honestly, people like Miliband disgust me.....

I hate to say it but they are all a social embarrassment, they think we believe all the Bs they trot out. Be sure they all have private medical insurance, and will be given priority care when and if they are hospitalised. When BLiar went in they re painted half the hospital "and his private room" No shared male and female wards for those chancers.

Glad to see you back my friend... I desist writing too much on vv these days overloading...as I feel my posts can be too controversial and a source of irritation. When I do come online it's because my good intentions fail and I Have to have another rant ;) :? Great individuals on VV. Tolerant.intelligent. Happy to correct at times my sometimes incorrect statistics. And apart from the above VV is a great booster and an education for the failing brain..! ;)

Actually, Kate, I feel exactly the same.

So many things have changed in my lifetime. Some for the better, but mostly for the worse.

No doubt I haven't much more time left on this planet, so perhaps I should not get so concerned
about it, but I can't help feeling sorry for today's children, for the future for them looks so grim
in many respects, and mankind in general seems to be incapable of doing anything about it.

I think we could replace incapable with unwilling. There is no doubt that we possess the technology and the ability to stabilise the planet and feed those we have.

But

1. Where is the profit in that
2. 1/3 of the planet seems to be hell bent on populating it until every single resource is gone and everyone is living in rags and waiting for hand-out's of a meagre subsistence diet.

Until we fix those two attitudes, there is no willingness to resolve the issues of the planet.

In the last century the population of the world has quadrupled. That is not sustainable. It also drives issues and wars...

Sad but true.

I agree Suff. This is just the usual grandstanding bs from our politicians.
My son grew up with a lad from down the road. They went to school together, played football together, they were like brothers growing up. Joe, my son's friend, is now ill with cancer. He's only 26. He has not been feeling well since last Christmas but was only diagnosed with cancer a couple of weeks since. He was previously being treated for anaemia.
If he had been diagnosed earlier he would have been treated earlier.
It all has to fit together - diagnosis, testing, treatment.
