Will you please

Put your seat backs in the upright position, fold away your tray tables and

Make sure you have switched you Apple Watch completely off…

Smart watches have been around for a while now. They all have wireless connectivity to a mobile phone or a pc and they are all pretty much active and broadcasting all the time. One thing they are not is very easily recognised by the airline staff.

Of course, now that we have the Apple media blitz going on about their latest and greatest toy for those with too much money, the airlines are going to target them. I wonder just how many ruffled Apple Watch owners there will be when they are told to turn off their watch.

So there you are, phone off, ebook reader off, watch off, no idea of passing time, stuck on the perimeter track in a queue of planes. Having to revert to the airline magazine stuck in the seat back in front of you, for some entertainment….

I’m sure there are going to be disgruntled people on the net talking about how they had to lose their favourite new toy because of those Overbearing Pricks on the airlines….

If I had my way all public transport and places such as pubs and waiting rooms would be enclosed in Farraday cages to allow such things as iThis and eThat to be silenced. ;)

I know nothing about smart watches and am unlikely to have one, but you're allowed to keep your kindle on ;)

Only if they don't recognise it.

I've been told to turn my ebook reader off about 85% of the times I've flown with one.

You're kidding! (obviously not) - That's ridiculous
Actually on our Ryanair flight I remember them saying specifically to make sure we had any such devices on airoplane mode...maybe your flights are too fancy :P :D

The actual Ryanair statement is:

Please ensure that during taxi, take-off and landing, your electronic devices are fully switched off. During the flight, you may use certain electronic devices. If your device has a flight safe mode please enable it now.

It is the first part I was talking about.

Please ensure that during taxi, take-off and landing, your electronic devices are fully switched off.
