Has anybody actually looked into the exact nature of these "crimes"? I would be interested to know in exact detail what he did that was so offensive to them.

A few details: http://www.theguardian.com/politics/201 ... llegations

He appears to be a serial flirt of the creepiest kind, but apart from one case at his home and with no witnesses, and no real indication of why they were there, there is not much in the way of standing up, throwing of napkins and shouting of "Do you mind not doing that!" at the time of the alleged events.

As for those not wishing to make a scene: there does not appear to be any evidence of them whispering in his shell-like: "Oi, Neanderthal, if you touch me again I am going to poke your eye out with this cheese knife," or even the simple tactic of quietly getting up and walking away.

That Bridget Harris was on Jeremy Vine at lunch time. As part of her defence she said "I was young and impressed that he was speaking to me" "How young?' asked Jeremy "thirty"  At that point I lost all sympathy for her

She says he did it three times, and then suggested that take their coffees up to his room.

I agree with WM and would have had a loud word in his ear, loud enough to be heard by people nearby. Unless of course advancing my career was all that mattered and then I wouldn't consider myself any different to him

Yes, shouting loudly "Stop touching me like that you old pervert" would have been good.

The LibDems really have contrived to make a mess for themselves. They set up an inquiry which reports that there is "credible evidence" that Lord Rennard behaved as described - and then said that nothing could be done about it!
Talk about managing to achieve the worst of both worlds.

I cannot count the men who patted my rear end when I was young, plus that extra strong squeeze when meeting at some do or other. We would removed the offending hand discreetly ( if it offended). When dancing it was not unusual for the male to place his hand on ones rear. I think this law has gone mad when it comes to what is considered to be sexual harassment, out and out abuse and harassment is absolutely not acceptable regardless of ones position in Westminster or any where else. sadly many of those in power think they are in a free playing field and they become a nuisance considering that their behaviour is their right. .
HOWEVER, if this is what it takes to get rid of Clegg so be it.

know too much of what goes on behind the scenes and the supposed respectability of Westminster, they know of the wheeling and dealing,. "What's the betting he remains draped in his Ermine?

Mike Hancock, Lib Dem MP for Portsmouth, is another one named for being a sex pest. This particular story has been going on for a while now, a couple of years at least.
