They are taking the sewage....

The water industry, that is.

They say it is going to cost £10bn to stop their illegal dumping of raw sewage into our rivers and seas, and who is going to pay?

We are, through rises in our water bills.

My bill is in two parts: Consumption and Sewage. I am already paying for sewage to be taken and treated, So why aren't they doing it? Our bills already pay for this so they should not need to rise.

Water companies need to stop paying bonuses and dividends and do the job we pay them for.

And people still go "wild swimming" in our rivers. Must be mad!

When they added mains sewers into our town in France, they put the sewer connection to each house but it was up to the house whether they wanted to connect or not. Over time they changed the law so that on sale of the property the soil pipe had to be directed to the sewer. When we bought next door, we completed and the seller had to move the soil pipe from the public street drain, draining into the river, to the sewer! We completed in 2012 I believe.

On myhouse built in 1960, the rain water, waste water from the kitchen sink, bath and shower water and sewage from thetoilet all goes into the one undrground soil pipe
down the drive into the main sewer in the road.

I am sure pre-war when houses were built waste water went into one pipe and sewage into another. This meant each house had two manholes.

The water companies are only interested in making a profit not protecting the enviroment and not pollutting rivers and the seas.

Today in the Guardian an article claims that the water firms are to pay £15 billion in dividends to shareholders.
