Boris has a habit of shooting himself in the foot. He might have got away with it when he was a journalist but in the House of Commons he is under scrutiny all the time.

It was interesting, however, that although Piers Corbin and his rent a mob shouted several accusations at Keir Starmer, the majority of the media picked up and focused on the Jimmy Saville jibe made by Boris Johnson at PMs Question time. It gave the impression that the mob were hounding Sir Keir because Jimmy Saville wasn't prosecuted, whereas in fact, that was just one of several outlandish accusations they hurled at Sir Keir. I presume the aim of this was to lay the whole of the blame at the door of Boris Johnson, However, irrespective of anything that was said in Parliament, rent a mob would still have ambushed Sir Keir or anyone else unfortunate enough to be coming out of the HoC at that time.

If Boris is going to survive he will have to learn to think before he speaks in future and no doubt grasping the principle of honesty is the best policy may well keep him out of further trouble in the future.
