Oh I hope not. The UK has the most diverse and brilliant music scene on the planet. Think of any music style you want and in any city or big town you will find a venue - in a basement, a room over a pub, a unit on an industrial estate. They were once everywhere, and some of our biggest acts started in them.
The UK is renowned worldwide for its pick 'n' mix music scene, but sadly (Covid) some 86% of venues are struggling. If they go so do the acts.... and music brings in lots of overseas money to our economy.
In my day it was two bob entry, bring your own drinks (no booze), sit down, smoke a joint and dance / listen. We had pirate radio back then and they played a lot of 'own label' stuff not from the big companies on the BBC. There was this group, The Beatles, I wonder what happened to them?
