Our grim future

It is frustrating for people like me, who have followed this through decades of inaction, to now see the knee-jerk reactions. We do need to take action but I would prefer it to be of the slowly, slowly, catchee monkey type rather than the lemming rush.

We need to get things right not just get things done. If it takes not too much time but gets done I can live with that.

I can live with that too WM. But experience says that setting an unreasonable target and hitting 90% of it by the date is far, far, more effective than setting a low target and constantly failing to meet it.

Whilst I have no time for these Insulate Britain mobs, I am well aware that those making the most advances, today, in renewable energy and CO2 reductions, are governments or institutions who are not really accountable to the people.

Which tells me that this very accountability is the problem. So if they want to set an impossible target and come very close to hitting it? I'm OK with that.

Will it come with an unacceptable price? Well those people paying the price are voters after all. So we shall see.

If only there was somewhere we could outsource most of our manufacturing to so that we could claim to be nearly a net-zero economy. Oh, wait.....

What, you mean like the "stars" attending Mr. & Mrs. CO2, Katy and Bill's, Earthshot shindig in London? People who are there in order to be seen to be there - free publicity does no harm. We are told that none of them have flown in, so that's mighty eco-friendly, but why should they, most of them live in and around London. Got to get the message out, though. They were also asked to consider the environment when picking their outfits but none of them were naked.

Hypocrites the bloody lot of them.
