We can't judge people who lived 100 or 200 years ago. Most people of the same generations thought the same way then. We should be proud of how far we have come and how far we can go if we work together and respect each other. I wonder how we will be judged in 100 years time. I see that the push back has started.

People who didn't fall asleep in history lessons are talking about the Nubians selling what are now Somalis and Ethiopians to the Egyptians as slaves and then, themselves, becoming slaves. Mongols and Chinese and vice-versa. Romans. South American civilisations enslaving their own peoples and others. And let us not forget the African tribes from the Congo and Mali rounding up the fit and healthy from other tribes and 'selling' them on to the Portuguese, Spanish, French and Dutch slave traders, as well as to the British, on what was known as the 'Slave Coast' - modern Nigeria to Senegal.

Slavery has been with us for aeons and still exists today, but in more acceptable forms- sweat-shops for our cheap fashion / phones. It is not a white, British or American thing.

And indeed the English people from the south coast who were taken in raids by the Corsairs from the Barbary Coast and sold into slavery.

The trouble with 99% of these people chuntering on about our wicked history is that they know so little history themselves.
