No argument there. Italy, Spain and France have proven that this plateau can last for a week or two. However, lockdown continuing, it will drop. Eventually. Because the virus simply won't have enough new hosts to infect so the infections and attendant deaths, will start to drop.

It was never going to be Everest. Suggesting so was hardly sensible.

That one or two week lag is the big worry. Even with a slowing rate we could be up to 35,000 or so by the end of it, and that is way more than the ill-defined and almost forgotten "below 20,000" mentioned at the start of the briefings.

We broke 3m cases world wide today and Spain recorded new cases just short of 10,000.

My suspicion on the new cases is that the lock down was masking cases and the little bit of freedom they have allowed has brought them to light.

It should be a blip.
