Sheffield shootings

Postby cromwell » 29 Jun 2017, 08:31

Apparently there have been assorted shootings and stabbings in Sheffield recently. The alleged cause is trouble between rival Somaili and Kurdish drug gangs. I was amazed that this was on the local BBC news, albeit briefly.

Point is, I googled "Sheffield shootings" and was surprised at how many results came back. This has been going on, on and off for years, but there has been very little reporting of it on tv or radio.

Funny old state of affairs we have come to when shootings are kept as dark as possible.

Shootings were so common in the Lozells / Aston areas of Birmingham back when we were living there, Crommers, that they really became insignificant news. They only really hit the headlines when those two innocent girls were shot, Charlene Ellis and Leticia Shakespeare back in 2003.

Two rival gangs and a drugs turf war.

In 2010, the WM Police even went as far as setting up a gun-shot detection monitoring system (as used in the USA) on top of a number of high-rises in the area, but it was abandoned after it totally missed 4 shootings .....

I get tired of hearing about all these criminal occurrences.

They will continue, no doubt, until the time comes when we realise that our punishments for
criminal acts are no longer a deterrent. We need to bring back the Birch, and Hard Labour in
prisons, so that occupants when released will decide never re-offend.

We don't want criminals in our society, but we will just have to put up with them as long as we
take notice of the 'do-gooders' that blight our society - and who, it seems, would rather send a
criminal to a holiday camp than a place where he would receive real punishment.
