Do the resignations of Villiers and Crabb indicate that the healing process within the Tory party is not going as planned?

Crabb has been caught sending explicit texts to a young lady who is not his wife, describing what he would like to do to her. In the circumstances he is lucky that he was allowed to resign and not bounced down the steps like Gove and Osborne.

Some idiot in the press has been talking about major surgery instead of a nip and tuck to tidy up.

It's amazing how they can listen to what people say and then assume it means something else... Of course this was going to be a Major change. The UK is about to emerge from the EU after nearly 50 years of "oppression". The team that does this cannot be the janitorial maintenance team which has been sweeping the corridors under the EU reign of power.

The key piece for me is that the UK is not going into uncharted waters. The vast majority of the UK history is where we are going back to. What we are leaving is only the very smallest part of UK, British, English and Scottish history.

I note that very few want to talk about the fact that Boris speaks multiple international languages and used to hold his Mayor of London meetings, in France, in French... If you want to communicate with people in different cultures it is best you speak their language and optimal if you even understand something about them. Boris was a good choice in this parliament but probably not a good choice in the end as his levels of "diplomacy" don't meet the politically correct politics of today.

Interesting thought occurred to me.

The likelihood of the Foreign Minister screwing up and having to stand down, given the nature of the job for the rest of this parliament, is high. Giving it to someone who is likely to screw up and then fall on their sword would be an interesting chess move.

Is Boris really a pawn being sacrificed? I wonder how good May is at chess?

A similar thought crossed many minds, Suff.

Many political commentators were shocked by BoJo's promotion, but, it could prove a win-win situation for May.

If he succeeds, and for the good of the country we should all hope that he does, his promotion will be seen as an 'inspired' choice by May.

On the other hand if his ego always makes him want to trump Davis and Fox for the plaudits, or to blame them for the failures, it would make a working relationship between the three impossible. He could then be dispatched to the back benches carrying the banner "Not fit for purpose".

It could be more a safe each-way bet than a chess move.

Which just goes to show the total lack of understanding for the main EU countries for the intricacies of UK politics.

Ever tried explaining the concept of flogging a dead horse to a European??? It can be utterly hilarious. Imagine their confusion when they say "but that is utterly stupid and pointless". To which you reply Exactly. Leaving them even more confused than they were in the first place... There is, of course, no need to explain this to either the Swede's or the Danes. But then they said nothing about Boris not standing or when he was chosen to be FM.

The dismissive vitriol was worse than anything Boris said about the EU during his campaign. Yet they expect that he should be the one to apologise.

It's going to be a fun journey. The EU still don't get it. All these statements of "You have to get on with it because it will hurt our economy".

Boris is just the man to stand there and say "From where I stand who's problem is that?".

They seem to expect that Britain, because we chose to leave, should be the only one to suffer and to suffer as much as they see fit in their spite driven attempts to get back at us. We need someone like Boris to explain to them that their conceit and arrogance mean nothing to us and they, for once in 50 years, will be dancing to our tune and not the other way around.

I may even enjoy this a LOT.
