So I watched most of the Wembley debate

Postby Suff » 21 Jun 2016, 21:21

And it was a really gruelling debate.

But, in the end, watching both the news over the last few days and the debate tonight, it seems to me that with their backs to the wall the Remain campaigns project fear has become project Race Card.

Then I watched the ensemble on BBC (still watching it), the first part of which was nothing more than a canonisation of Remain, giving the best responses for Remain but cutting the best responses of Leave.

Honestly. There is no surprise here for me. Scottish Tories will get nowhere talking about Leave so they are solidly Remain or they would not have made their position in the Scottish Elections. So it's hardly a surprise about Ruth Davidson.

Labour? Well what could I expect. It's all the fault of the government not taking enough money and spending it on services and immigration is good we're just not doing it properly...

I think they forgot that it was the Labour government who opened the doors wide to immigration and then spent all the money on frivolities rather than the infrastructure to support it. Now, magically, Cameron and the Tories are totally to blame for this.

Even if I were not decided; that debate would not have engendered me to Remain.

So I've been looking at the analysis coming out of the debate and the ITV Fact Checker makes really interesting reading.

Who is telling the largest amount of half truths and outright porkies? Well have a read and see. I know who I'd say it was.

Also, over Turkey, nobody is getting the facts. Turkey is going to walk away with open trade and visa free access to EU markets without joining the EU. Which makes Leave more true than Remain.

However I really did like this graph. Which puts Boris' statement into direct context.

Is Germany going to allow the Commission and Council trash trade with the UK????? Is 6% right? Well if you believe the fact checker the figure is an absolute minimum of 5% of our companies trade with the EU and an absolute maximum of 8%.

The sad thing is that most people are no going to check the facts, they're going to believe the BBC and Guardian and Independent bias...

Call the whole thing off - NOW!

If voters need this information, as the BBC obviously believes, then they should not be allowed anywhere near a polling station.

How to vote

Image

I have seen and heard some things in the referendum, but this takes the biscuit.

They missed 'Get out of house, go to polling station' and 'pick up pencil to make your mark' as well as 'exit pooling station' and *'go home - to pub - find tall building and jump off'.

*Choose (select, pick) as appropriate (what you want to do).

WM ...... I love it!

You missed these bits:

Each polling booth should include sharpened pencils, attached to string long enough to accommodate both right and left-handed voters. You can use you own pen or pencil if you prefer.

Must remember to pack (a) pencil sharpener and (b) scissors .....

Can I put a smiley face instead?
The Electoral Commission says the best way to make sure your vote is counted is to mark an X in a box. But a smiley face or anything which is interpreted by a returning officer as an expression of preference "must not be rejected if the voter's intention is clear", its guidance to Counting Officers says.

:D

Can I take a selfie?
There's nothing in the law that specifically bans taking photos ......

..... and don't forget to post it on the VV Photo Board!

Sir/Madam.

Q. My polling station only has two booths so I cannot go to the middle one; (as per the graphic) will my vote still count?

A. Only if you are left-handed and use the left booth. The right both is for right-handers. Make sure you go to the correct one.

Q. The booths in my polling station have curtains; do they have to be drawn before I make my vote?

A. Most certainly: your vote is secret. Please forget that as you collected your personal voting paper the number on the back was marked against your name. This is for accounting purposes only and cannot ever be used to track who voted for what - unless we absolutely need to find out.

Q. The polling station is at the back of a local church; am I allowed to say a prayer for guidance before/after voting, and also to go to confession?

A It is absolutely essential that you do. Making your own mind up based on the issues is never a good thing.

Thank you.

You are welcome.

Q Do I actually have th think before coming to the polling station and casting my vote.

A Certainly not, we have done all the thinking for you. Just do as you are told and everything will be fine
