I have never

seen sheep move so quickly or munch or so quickly.

Marie-Jose brought her 50 sheep up again today and they literally charged up the drive, towards the house, where the lush grass is     She really couldn't keep up with them and I had to stop them from munching my favourite plants    Bluddy hilarious it was    8-) But as she said, that's her exercise for the day sorted    cos we're on a hill :D She also brought her umbrella, just in case    And she sat there, on a large rock, for 2 hours

But her son, with his tractor, in such a short space of time has done such a huge huge job and we're so happy - we can now see the land undulating, we can see where the olive and cork oak trees are and our neighbours, at the bottom of the "garden" are looking forward to seeing a better view. And all for 10 euros an hour.

Well done that man - although he did say, it was hard work - the land has been forgotten about for quite a few years, but the soil is fantastic and he's happy, for his crops - whenever he's going to plant them.

This is such a different way of life, and oddly, for some-one who is a townie, I love it, really love it :D :D

I don't blame you - it sounds idyllic to me, esp once you have the pool in place as well :) A little piece of personal heaven on earth

Ton, I must have missed when you posted about this... is he renting some of your land or are you exchanging land use for maintenance / labour? Good idea either way - just being very curious

Sorry Ria, maybe I posted and it disappeared, as it seems to at the moment

We have 3 acres of land, very undulating, now we can see most of it - and it was in a very bad state of up-keep. nothing had been done for many years.

Jose, a young, local lad, is using it for his sheep and then to put some crops on, and he will do all the up-keep of the land, the cork oaks and olive trees :D :D :D

We get some-one to look after it and some - not a lot - olive oil and hopefully, a dead sheep every year, so yes Ped, you were right.

It sounds like a fantastic win/win situation, even for the sheep who will have a lovely life until their trip to the butcher ;)
