Yes, I know we've still got a good few months to go before we officially and confidently can say it's Spring so there still is time, but... looking at a longer term forecast for where I live, we have 3 nights of minus temperatures coming up at end of this week and after that it's back to regular 10 degrees (celsius) day time and about 6 or so degrees in the evenings; through to about end January.
Just so wrong - poor plants and wildlife just don't know what to do with themselves

I just looked at the 28 day forecast for here and it is similar to Ria's: lows of 4-5, highs of 9-10.
I remember the almost snow free winters in the early 1970s leading up to the drought of '76. We used to get all sorts of infestations the following springs and summers from cornflies, ladybirds and daddy long-legs.

I don't mind ladybirds and daddy long-legs (but not sure what corn flies are?); I just wish we'd have a few nights of really good hard frost so some of the too many slugs in the garden are dispatched.... I still put food out for the hogs but the slugs are just having a field day and I can't risk not having the food out just in case any wake up from hibernation and come looking for it.
oh well

Just been out and put another layer of compost on top of my poor little peeking up bulbs, in the hope it will protect them

If the present unusual weather is due to man-induced global warming, as many think,
then what we are experiencing now is only just the start of it.
Aren't you glad you're you?

Yes Aggers, I must admit to being glad to be my age, and not a youngster, the way things are going...

Ria, cornflies (thrips) are little black bugs about 1 to 2mm long and they get everywhere!
Another infestation, one year, was greenfly, you could not breathe for them. I hink they kick started the ladybirds later on.
