I'm sorry but that is not the least bit funny
I've told before of our lovely (late) neighbours.
They lived in their own home, they paid for a wonderful cleaner-come do whatever was wanted.
Once Doug reached 90 and could no longer drive - well, he could, but couldn't get in and out of the car - she would either shop for them or take Sue shopping.
Doug would sometimes fall, and neither he nor Sue could get him up. No big deal, just weakness, and when indoors, no injury.
But what were they supposed to do? If we were in, they'd phone and Bb would pop round, pick him up, make sure he was ok.
If we weren't in, they did have another two neighbours' phone numbers, but it's also a question of dignity and what you're comfortable with.
And they were very lucky to know their neighbours.
Plus, it shouldn't be down to random neighbours
So, if we weren't in, they had no option but to call an ambulance, always making clear it was far from an emergency, and apologising for calling.
I would hate to think of any 90 yr old, completely helpless on the floor, wondering whether they can afford £26 to get picked up
