Waiting for the first nuisance call
We needed a new phone (landline) and fortunately our Rodo posted a link on fb to a whizzbang superduper Nuisance Call Blocker phone :D
Like this http://www.shop.bt.com/products/bt8500- ... -9M2R.html :)

We got it all charged up yesterday then discovered we didn't have caller display activated and couldn't get through (then we both had to go out).
Did it today though :)
Nice and easy to set it all up, I've added loads of numbers as 'allowed' and now I just can't wait for one of those calls :)
They will be told they're being screened and have to announce who they are, all without me hearing a thing, and if they still want to go ahead, I get to choose 'block this number' without having to speak to them :Hi:
What's the betting we now go a record length of time without one?

Ours has screened most of them out, but there is still one that gets through almost every day. It has made quite a difference though.

Most is good enough for me Rodo :)
Plus I can tell it I don't want to hear it ring from anyone except VIP numbers for a set time (or something like that lol, haven't got to that bit yet)

It really is a shame that such things are needed, but that's life.

I do not get many nuisance calls, but when I do how I handle them really depends on the mood I am in. Sometimes it is a simple "No" and put the phone down, but with others I can play all sorts of games before they twig that they have been had.

I hope it sorts out your particular problem, Di. :D

We don't get a huge amount Wm, certainly less than we used to, and we've been registered with telephonepreferences for years.

But they do tend to come in batches, and I really would rather they didn't come at all, especially all those Indian-sounding people with names like Jeff or Albert, insisting I have a problem with my computer

I just tell the ones we get that I can't speak Portuguese.

They're all from the one and only phone company we have got

So, how many unwanted calls do you think we've had?

None! Not one single one, no recorded ppi messages, no annoying Indians called Walter, no energy companies insisting they can give me a better deal...nothing :D :Hi:
If the number's not known/allowed, the phone doesn't ring until the caller has announced who they are...strangely, they don't bother :D
