How bad is this

Just received a message from a friend of mine; saying her parents had received a call from the hospital saying that apparently his kidneys are failing and that he needs to make arrangements with his GP for admission...

Now this is the bit that's bad - call from hospital was at 4AM, yup 4 A M !!!!!!! Now, the GP only opens at 8am which means the poor parents were woken at some ungodly hour and left in absolute state and worry until they could speak to their GP; how can that be right by anyone's standards? I'm sorry - but if the medical condition is that urgent that it warrants a call at 4am, then make darn sure you have an ambulance on standby to go collect the people and get them to you.

My friend understandably is completely worried as well now. I'm so livid for her!

That is insane!

If things are so urgent a call needs to be made at 4am then an ambulance should be on standby.

Surely, if the matter is that urgent, why is there a need to involve any action from the doctor?

It sounds stupid to me.
