The lady arrived, will take all of the books, the two sofas, one fridge/freezer, one double bed, 3 rugs, a gas hob and a fairly off/odd looking silver plated tea service.

But not until 11 ish of December    as our friends need somewhere to sit/sleep too

well done you - a good cause and I'm sure they'll be hugely appreciative.

Not many dogs get to eat their food off a silver platter :D

   Some of the money raised, by selling the stuff, will also go to the Centre in Moncarapacho for riding for disabled children.

The gas hob, crockery, cutlery and possibly even the fridge/freezer will be given to a old ish bloke who is using a calor gas camping cooker at the moment.

Portugal is still a very poor country, in lots of ways.

The rich are very rich and the poor (like us ;) ) are very poor.

The state pension here is under 400 euros a month   :o :o :o

Well done, Ton! :D

(I can't help contrasting that, though, with the attitude of local charities here in the UK to donations, wot I posted about last week .....)

Daft, isn't it Ossie?

There is some-one we know, who is not very well educated, who, because of disability, lives in "sheltered" accommodation. This consists of one room, to live and sleep in, with a small room with just a shower heard and toilet.

There is no heating, no hot water and it's all old concrete, as they used to build them like that over here.

But he pays a small amount of rent each week and all of us, who know him, help out where and when we can. Cash jobs etc. He's 34 and has really no chance of getting a proper job. The benefit system for him is pretty dire too.
