Sorry. Just had to get that out there!

Busy busy day - all my jobs done, bags packed, put in the car, car parcel shelf found and put in the car, filled up with petrol, dog dropped off at mums and all ready for when the girls and Mick get home for setting off to go to Watford ready for the Harry Potter weekend we have had booked since March.

And then the phone call comes from school.

S can't put any weight on her knee. Her knee is a little swollen. Can I come and fetch her.

I am so cross. She went to the office at lunchtime to tell them that her knee hurt and was quite swollen. They refused her request to ring me, refused her request for an ice pack, gave her a paracetamol and sent her away (bearing in mind that they know that she dislocated her knee in her dance class last Thursday and I had asked them to ring me if any other problems occurred) back to her lessons. During PE, (in which the PE teacher gave her a detention for refusing to take part) her knee gave way completely and then, after her having to be taken down to the office in a wheelchair, they decided to call me. I shall be calling her head of year on Monday to complain!

Mick has taken her to our local minor injuries department to see what they say. Fortunately she is already booked in with the physio on Thursday morning. Unfortunately she has a dance assessment coming up in about 3 weeks time which quite a large chunk towards her dance GCSE - one of the few GCSE's she was pretty much guaranteed to do well in!

I have run Harry Potter and they were fab. They can provide her with a wheelchair if she wants one or, if we decide not to go we need to ring them asap and they can sort out a transfer on our tickets. Sadly we won't be able to do the same with our Premier Inn booking but at least that's only £89 (thank god I didn't book two rooms).

Mick has just rung.

They have sent them off to the main A&E at Chesterfield as they think it could be ligament damage to the knee. No idea what that means or entails until I get an update from him later.

We haven't made a decision yet but its highly unlikely we will be going this weekend.

I could cry! Practically every holiday we have had in the last year (apart from our last summer holiday in Cornwall) has been blighted by one of them having something broken or sprained!

It looks highly unlikely that we will be going this weekend. Its 4.35 now and Mick is only just on his way to A&E. No doubt he will be there for at least 90 minutes and then has to get back here. Its a 3 hour drive to Watford and as S can't put any weight on her knee she would have to go around the studio tour in a wheelchair so would be restricted as to what she can do.

And she is due to start her new waiteressing job on Wednesday!!!!

She has sprained it. Mick has just rung.

They think that because she didn't keep up the exercises after she had dislocated it last year (which to be fair to her, the physio dishcharged her and didn't tell her to keep the exercises up) the muscles around it have weakened.

They have put a crepe bandage on and told her that she must walk on it. She is able to bare some weight on it.

So we have decided to go. Just waiting for them to get back now and for Mick to get changed. We will probably stop at motorway services somewhere for food.

Oh Deb! S really is in the wars. I'd be complaining to the school to and insisting on the detention being reversed. She shouldn't be punished for doing what was right

Certainly would be complaining strongly to the school, because of their negligence, her knee is now more damaged than if they had done what she asked in the first place  I would do more than call, I would go there and have a right go at someone, S knew it was not right, she was strong enough to refuse to do PE and certainly deserves a proper apology and reversal of that detention. I hope you manage to enjoy the weekend xx
