from toursity areas when you hear people moaning (loudly) about a lack of the rugby on the tele (Portugal isn't into rugby  ) lack of drinks menu   and also lack of English speaking bar staff

I've deleted what I was going to say, because I was so mad at their attitude,

Exactly what I said Saundra, but this is the rural east Algarve and we don't do tourists that well, maybe soon, but not yet.

So if you want a drinks menu, sky sports or everyone speaking English, then please go to a touristy area, not a working fishing village.

Which is exactly why we moved to inland Spain.

You'll always get 'tourists' who aren't remotely interested in being a 'tourist'.

But..it's their holiday and if that's what they like/don't like/moan about that's their beef.

At least when they go home Ton you get your lovely town back again. (Hopefully!) xx

I know Ally I know, but it's now getting all year round.

When we first moved here, there weren't any tourists, apart from the odd few and certainly no English, Dutch, German or whatever.

I don't normally moan about tourists, because they do bring money into our village, but their atitude jst annoyed me - and Grumpy.

the poor lad serving them was trying his best, but they spoke with strong accents and his English is obviously not up to that, yet.

And we both felt quite embarrassed, as there were a lot of locals in the bar at the time, but I'm sure they won't tar us all with the same brush, but the local newsagent certainly does.

I see where you're coming from Ton...I'm sure all the locals know that you're a couple that have chosen to live there and have fitted in and enjoy the way way of life there.

They know who the eejits are that visit.

Now I am one of those who likes to wander off the tourist paths, most of the time, and look in all those little nooks and crannies the locals tend to go.

I, of course, do the architecture and stuff, but when I want food and drink it is street vendors and back street cafes for me.

You can keep your Watney's Red Barrel, fish 'n chips and plastic pubs.

We've noticed it over the last 4 years, more and more tourists. No worries, but please, be polite, do not expect everyone to speak English, no matter how loud you speak, or a drinks menu.

Drinks menu??

And if told that you only have white or red wine, do not question, three times, what, no rose??
