And we are too

Feeling rather fragile

We had thought of staying another night, as there is a party at the club we use, but after last night, we need to be home

Had a fantastic time, saw three houses, fell in love with one, made some more great friends and drank enough brandy last night to keep us afloat for a week

And the food.....................I really cannot praise the black pork enough. It melts in your mouth and the taste is just gorgeous.

The builder didn't turn up, but we saw a house we'd liked, but this second look was enough to put us off and the house we'd arranged to see was a huge disappointment.

But then the agent took us to another one and although we'd dismissed it beforehand, it's the one for us. The photos are rubbish and doesn't do it justice, but the "feel" of it is just right - for us both, which is a first, since we bought this one.

This is it

We'd dismissed for that very reason Kaz, but it's less than a 3 minute drive from the nearest village, which has a bar (so Grumpy is happy) and a daily delivery of bread etc. The local farmer would love to have most of the land for his sheep, so we can have what we want around us, then fence off the rest, for his sheep. And it's about 6 minutes drive from Ourique, so not as bad as it looks ;)

We also met the nearest neighbour :D :D who speaks not a word of English, so that will do us some good :D

That's what I would call "cosy". I like it.

I am not a fan of open-plan and much prefer smaller rooms; and outside there is plenty of space for a decent veg patch. If a sheep strays in and goes missing.... well! ;)

It's quite normal, over here WM, to be given a sheep a year, for use of the land :D :D :D

And yes, Saundra, it's a real pain in the posterior, but do have some lovely breaks.

The local chief of police is now a great friend and will be keeping an eye out for us, in case there's another similar property.

in fact, he's trying to get us to have a house built, rather than buy one, "readymade", because that's what he did. It is a cheaper way of doing it, but we'd have to find somewhere to rent whilst it's going through planning and being built, and that can take 3 years or more  :? , so although we told him it's no, he's going to be looking ;)

And I forgot to mention, it's got it's own water and fossa, so the "rates" will be about 100 euros - a year :Hi: :Hi: :Hi: :Hi: :Hi: :Hi:

We've had another word with the agent there and also worked out how much it cost to build, so our first offer, if we ever get that far, will be 125,000.
