A car question

seriously when I bought the car I have now 13 years ago, there wasn't so much choice and I knew what I wanted so it was easy.. this time round I'm really struggling though to find something I like and that's affordable.

One of the options is a Dacia Stepway but when I asked at the dealer today he said the engine is a 800 turbo charge. Now I have two friends who have cars that have similar engine sizes (Nissan Qashqai & Fiat 500) and they actually do have quite a bit of va va voom on them. Because of the engine size the annual road tax is only £30 which is really good, but I do wonder about the engine size. Would the fact that it's a turbo charge mean more expensive servicing etc?

The other car at the moment is a Vauxhall Astra that has a very good HP purchase option - but needs to be bought by 31st August before the new reg comes out (but then that could well be sales talk and that same deal will still be around in a few months time? - who knows)

I do have a few minimum specs and am still looking around, but this engine size thing with the Dacia has thrown me a bit; I'll be honest :?

I don't know much about cars Ria..I drive to where I need to go and come home again.

But I can tell you Jackie (my best friend) has a Qashqai and absolutely loves it. :D

I'm not much help, I'm afraid.

I would LOVE to have one of them as well Ally, they really are such an amazing and super comfy car. But they are WAY out of my price range unfortunately.

The Astra is a perfect deal financially; the Dacia is the size I'm looking for (something slightly higher off the road) and it has a few more specs but the finance deal isn't as good.

I've just looked at the details of the new Corsa which ticks ALL boxes for specs (well not quite size  ) but no idea re money; will ask on Thursday when I go to the dealer

The Quashqui thingy is under powered, apparently. And think of driving with those tiny windows :? :? :?

the corsa is a good, reliable car and we nearly bought one, but got Hiho - a lot cheaper - instead.

I like being higher up when driving, especially with the maniacs over here

I have just bought a Kia Picanta Sprite 1.1 2010 plate.
So far I am very pleased with it.
It handles well and is economical .
It also has a 7 year warranty so there is 2 years still left.

lissie :D

Jackie's Qashqai doesn't have small windows. :?

If I wanted my own car I think I'd really fancy one of these. :D

Same here, which is why the Dacia is still top of the list; but the engine bit worries me
