The Eye

Thank you all so much for your good wishes and kind words xx

We got home a bit after one, it took a while to get home as poor Bb was feeling really ill so I had to stop for him to get out for 10-15 minutes (in the rain!)
He went straight to bed but I've heard him get up a few times; I have checked on him but really he's better just left alone.

They've done operation A which involves something the surgeon called heavy oil but I think may be silicone, not a gas ball, designed to hold the retina back in place.
In 5 days (next Tuesday) we have to go back, they will review it and decide if they think it's going to work or if it needs a second operation :?
So we still need lots of things crossed for our holiday :?

Three different lots of drops, 5 times a day, but he doesn't have to hold his head on the side or anything.
Hopefully he'll be feeling a lot better by tomorrow.

I'll be honest and admit to not knowing / understanding much of it, but it does sound as though it's an "easier" recovery this time round if all goes well and a 2nd op isn't needed? Have I got that right? I do hope so!

Glad to hear your both back home; wishing Bb a speedy recovery, and you lots of patience  ((((hug)))) xx

I hope you don't get confused over the drops
And things improve
My bill was always best left alone
Good job I'm not a good nurse
Both take care

Yes I think it is easier (if it works!) which is not what the surgeon told us yesterday :)
He mentioned they sometimes use 'heavy oil' but just said it did the same job as the gas ball and from the patient's point of view not much difference.

It's making me hope even more that it works, rather than get teased by this one then have to go through the whole gasball thing after all, quite apart from the holiday.
Which is very selfish of me since it's Bb who has to actually go through it and he must be absolutely dreading the idea already, but I'm not about to change places ;)

I shall do a chart Saundra, they need it, all 3 are different timings, one to be kept in the fridge...
I'm not a good nurse either, but it doesn't do people any good to be fussed over does it :)

Glad it went well Di.

Give Bb a hug from me when he feels bit more with it all.

And keeping everything crossed for you and the holiday.

<<Bb>> ..... As Kaz said, I do hope that today's op has successfully dealt with the problem.

Just read up on that "gas ball" surgery technique ....... sounds a bit :?
