I think I spoke to soon

Taken from the Good Morning Tuesday thread:

I jinxed it.... My boss is on his way to Paris today to start his holidays. He got to Heathrow Terminal 5 only to find that the luggage conveyor system has broken down and it's utter and total chaos and he was concerned that his luggage wouldn't make it on his plane. And rightly so by the sounds of it - I called the baggage department and gave them the luggage tag number and it would appear that as of 20 mins ago the suitcase was still in London and he's about to land in Paris :(

Sigh; not much I can do this end right now besides fill in the lost luggage form for him (once he's landed and definitely not got his suitcase - I'm still hoping the computer system is wrong and hasn't been updated), but then not sure how we'll get the case from the airport to where he is as he's not staying in Paris but heading down to Bordeaux and then on to Switzerland

sigh - is it home time yet?

That is so frustrating, Ria, for both you and the boss because there is not much you can actually do. You cannot organise, or take charge, you just have to sit there and hope others sort it out.

It is a situation that would have me going ballistic....

You might need to treat yourself to a bottle of something on the way home.

OK, fingers and toes crossed and some spare VV Lost Luggage Vibes  - according to bossman the luggage is now on the next flight, which is about to depart. The computer system here in the UK gives the same info he was given by the people in France; so surely it has to be right?

Which would mean he collects his luggage just after 4pm, so whilst not ideal at least he has it and my life remains nice and easy

He usually does Ally, but he's away for the whole month ( :D)so hand luggage wouldn't have been enough

I amazed myself on my last visit as I had 2 weeks worth of clothes (including 2 pairs of bumpers! ) in my hand luggage.
Everything was rolled up like sausages.

But yes...hold luggage necessary for a month. :D :D :D

Our eldest son flew from Heathrow to Denver last year on bussines on a Monday. No case when he arrived. Got it on Wednesday.
He flew home on Friday night. No case when he arrived at Heathrow.

Many years ago when I was working, flew home from Dublin to Manchester. I was one of nine passengers on the same flight with the case missing.
Taxi driver who delivered it tried to complain as he had spent a longtime finding the house. This was before sta navs and post codes.
We have flown many times and so far our cases have always arrived with us.

I thankfully only had my luggage delayed once, many years back when visiting my sister. I caught a train to hers, suitcase turned up in a cab 5 hours later; definitely got the better mode of transport

And on a happy note - bossman and suitcase are reunited; phew! :)
