My pension

I worked for the nhs ish, for about 10 years and paid into the pension, as you do.

They've been sending me an up-date every July, so I know how much I'll be getting.

Grumpy read today's letter that I won't be able to get it until I'm 65, which made me a bit mad, as I was under the impression I'd get it when I'm 60.

So I re-read the letter - which he'd told me, forget it, you won't get it until you're 65 or maybe even 66.

And yes, I'll get, on my 60th birthday, a lump sum (at the moment is nearly 10.000 sterling :D :D :D :D ) and an annual oension of nearly 4,000 sterling.

Guess who is now a very happy Ton ;)

What you're referring to is, I presume, an NHS occupational pension, Ton? It's the state pension that is being "pushed back" to 65 and beyond.

(If it works like the teachers' pension scheme works, you probably could have taken it out prior to 60, but it would have been commuted, i.e you'd only have got a percentage.)

Yes Ossie, I could have taken it earlier and as I'm now classed as "disabled" I could have done, 3 years ago.

But I had thought, no, don't touch it - now all I have to do is leave it for a year and I'll take him out, once week for dinner
