Last year October I rescued four goldfish from Freecycle. The poor things were kept in a far too small tank and the deal was always going to be that when the time was right I'd release them into my pond. Unfortunately though when I got them the temperatures were already dropping steadily and it was too late in the year; so I ended up buying a larger tank for them (still way way too small in all honesty) and set them up in my lounge.
Ideally it should be a bit warmer outside before I release them but they just really do need more space so yesterday I started the process; with the aim to move them on Sunday. So all this week, starting last night; I'll be doing partial water changes; exchanging some of their tank water with pond water so come Sunday the water in the tank will hopefully be the same as in the pond and then come Sunday it'll be freedom day I just need to make sure I find a large enough grid to go over the pond so the cats / heron can't get at them as they are so much brighter than the two shibunkins and three brown gold fish I have in there at the moment. Thankfully the pond lily is coming along nicely so that will provide some shelter as well.
It will be odd not having the foursome in the lounge any more; I've grown quite attached to them - but they will be so much happier in the larger pond
