Holiday shopping again

I've spent the evening looking at cottages.

We've still got two more holidays this year - Cornwall in August and Pembroke (with mum as well) in October.

This one I'm looking for will be in March and just me, Mick and the dog. I'm looking Monday to Friday (14 - 18 March which does mean we'll be heading home on our wedding anniversary but the dates fit in with term time the best as they break for Easter early).

Yorkshire has been decided upon with Grassington looking favourable. We like Yorkshire - theres a Coast, good walks, little market towns and nice pubs. And hopefully no snow!

Just got to sweet talk my mum into having the girls now (which I don't think will be too hard as they're at school every day).

Sounds lovely! I loved Yorkshire and liked living there, it was just the husband at the time that spoiled it ;)

Debih, go to Grassington on google maps. Zoom in and have a drive round, then zoom out and just up the road you will see Kettlewell, do the same there and compare.

There is some good walking to be done in gentle hills and nice drives out to Malham Tarn and Pateley Bridge. Harrogate is for high class shopping and Skipton is good for a pub lunch by the river. I have spent many a weekend walking around there.

Getting to the coast might be a bit of a trek as you will not hit a good road till Ripon, but if you do decide then Robin Hood's Bay is worth a visit.

Thanks Frank.

The cottage I found in Grassington is out as there is no garden - we are taking Millie so garden important.

Looking around Leyburn now but I'll check out those places.

We don't mind where really - as long as there is a pub within walking distance, an enclosed garden and it has a log burner!

Sounds lovely Debih, I do rather wish I could go that far in a car but it's not on.
I've been looking too, but Bb is too busy with work till September :?

Debih, I was stationed at RAF Leeming, just down the road from Leyburn. If you want a mix-and-match holiday you would be in the right area.

The Yorkshire Dales NP is one way and the North York Moors NP the other. Richmond is not a bad place and it is only a few miles away. The coast is certainly in better reach and there are things like Fountains Abbey, Studley Royal and Riavaulx Abbey not far away.

We've done Whitby and surrounds to death so aren't that bothered about that area, even though we love it.

I've stopped looking now - until I've asked my mum!
