First Good Morning all--it is blowing a gale here :(
As you know i had my cataracts done a couple of years ago and one was
wonderful and the second did`nt make any difference.
They then found that i had a membrane growing over the Retina and they
would examine my eyes every 6 months and if it grew bigger i would
have to have an operation on it :(
Back in September i went to the hospital and the specialist said it had`nt
altered in 6 months so would see me again in March.
I got the appointment then it was cancelled and a new appointment made
for April. This was cancelled and one made for May. This too has now been
cancelled and they say i will get another one sent.
I am fed up with it as my "good eye" is playing up and i have a job to open
it in the morning.
I will phone again in a minute and see what they will say.
I have even asked to be transferred to Canterbury but the answer was
that the man in charge of my case only operated out of Ashford.

lissie :D

So sorry to hear this Lissie, Northampton General is pretty bad for ophthalmology appointments too.

Try contacting PALS at your local hospital, see what they can do.

The other alternative is to transfer hospitals, but that might mean starting again. At least you would need an initial consultation done again.

What is there reason for cancelling all these appointments? It really is atrocious and I am sure PALS should be able to help you

Good luck. Of course there is always your MP, but this isn't probably the best week to be honest, he might be busy :D

Oooh Lissie, so sorry and I hope you get an appointment soon, but however would they operate on the retina, WOW. I had a lid sticking recently on waking but gave it a pinch of bicarbonate in boiled water from an eyebath and it has been cured.

Seriously the NHS needs to catch a wake up. I know they're overstaffed and most people totally over worked and underpaid, but surely there must be a way to run things better.

Constantly cancelling and rearranging appointments is just not on - I am sorry :(

Sorry to hear this Lissie. Hope you get sorted soon. My SIL is due for her first cataract op next week I think. She lives in Frinton and is being taken by hospital car up to Ipswich for the op.

I'm sorry you're having a tough time getting this sorted Lissie xx

I agree with what's already been said, contact PALS, they should be able to get things moving for you.

Lissie, given my current problems, you have my utmost sympathy and I would strongly advise you to do what Shell says: Get in touch with PALS.

That is just disgraceful, Lissie, did they give you any reason?
