Old friends

I had a fab night out last night with two of my oldest friends.
Before I was born my mum and dad lived over the road from Anne and Brian and they were really good friends. They had a daughter - Lynn. Three years later along comes me, 3 months later they had Lusa and two years later my sister came along. We all holidayed together for years.
Lisa and I were best friends all through school. We drifted apart but kept in touch when I mved away but slotted back to best friend mode when I moved back. And have been for 25 years since. I see her at least once a week and speak/text every day. Lisa has 1 daughter aged 17 who S and L are really close to. Lynn has no children.
I didn't see much of Lynn but have got really friendly again in the last year, especially since I started running as she started at the same time. My text/speak to her at least once a week.
Last night was her 50th birthday meal. Her birthday was a couple of weeks ago but her and her hubby spent it in St Lucia. 18 of us went last night - including Lisa and her family, her parents and my mum as well as her friends. It was a fab night. Lynn paid for us all (completely unexpected) and the meal (at a steak house) was amazing.
We (me, Lisa, Lynn and her friend) are out for the day next Saturday. Off to Sheffiekd for lunch then on to see Full Monty (my birthday present from Lisa). We are hoping to be celebrating - lynn is currently Acting Dean of Education at Derby Uni and she has the interview for the actual job on Friday morning.
There's something really special about old friends isn't there!
