Vocal Voices

I went into town today and went with Gus to Countrywide to get food for dogs and cats.. Two beautiful spaniels were sitting on the seat of a car next to ours.. The owner came out and introduced us to them, fabulous beautiful animals.. She then said that she had five pups left, three bitches and four males, three males only for sale as she had sold one of the pups and was awaiting collection of him..
Gusty and I looked at each other, all KC registered, grandma came first at Crufts a few years ago....We then decided to go and have a look ....we went to the farm saw them, and were smitten, six weeks old I returned home with now named Oscar, and Gusty with Louie. He is panting in his cage that I bought even though he is asleep.. Barney my lovely dog and companion is not too amused hope he doesn't get too upset I though having a pup might be good for him. "And I took him outside and like a good boy he had a pee"!! but he also had one on the parquet flooring an hour later..
What have I done?

We had to take back a puppy we bought because our Prince resented another dog being
in 'his territory', and we were afraid the puppy might get hurt.

Kate, I have to ask....this is all genuine isn't it? They're not from a puppy farm? You say that Oscar is 6 weeks old, when we got Billy we weren't able to bring him home until he was 8 weeks old and I thought that was the general guideline.

Puppies - and kittens - are lovely, and almost irresistible...but really shouldn't be bought in haste.
Sorry Kate, but I can't pretend to be happy about it.
Quite apart from anything else, puppies are hard work.

I do sincerely hope it all turns out well, for both you and Gus.

I'm thinking the same thing. I hope this is all above board Kate. Not that I doubt you in any way, but I am concerned about the way the breeder went about this. Very strange to let the pup go home with someone who hasn't been checked. Have the pups been checked by the breeders vet, microchipped and vaccinated? When I had Jasper there was all sorts of paperwork etc to fill in, visits to make etc etc.

What kind of spaniel is it?

The same as Aggers whom I met when he visited. I live quite local to the woman who has the pups, and invited her to visit Gus and I.. She also has horses locally..
I am not new to having dogs and am aware that the pups can be hard work.. Ruby loves her new companion and Barney like a grandfather is tolerant but not too interested at this stage.. We have made an appointment to take them both to the vet this morning for a check up, I think they need worming and we need to organise their jabs etc. Neither Gusty nor I are irresponsible when it comes for caring for our animals.. They were ready for departure from the owner this coming friday so we were three days ahead..And my elder daughter has two Springers both getting older... So those who arent happy about us having these pups, they need not worry, we love our animals and all are sociable and sweet natured.

I'm absolutely sure your pup will have a wonderful home with you Kate. What concerns me is the breeder. The pups should have been wormed and vet checked before she let them go. How was the mum with the pups and how many litters has she had previously? Sorry, it just concerns me.

My feelings are the same as Loz's here Kate, I'm sure that you and your daughter will give the pups very loving homes but the breeder seems somewhat irresponsible and unprofessional in the way she sold these puppies and it just doesn't sit right with me.
