Hello everyone. I've finally got my head above water and things are starting to get a bit more normal chez PP. Mr PP is now almost 9 weeks post-stroke and has been home from hospital for nearly five weeks after contracting the dreaded lurgy (e.coli) in hospital and ending up in HDU overnight with a central line into his neck. It's been tough going but he's doing well and can make his way round the house using a walking stick and he can go up and down stairs on the stairlift unaided which is a great step forward. He's having speech therapy as his swallow is a big dodgy but he can walk and he can talk so it could have been so much worse and there's every sign that he will make a 90% recovery. He's also having daily physiotherapy at home and the occupational therapist comes in twice a week. Thank you for all the good wishes. Ally and Frank have been in touch so special thanks to them, dear friends, and also of course Rodo.

I'm completely out of the VV loop I'm afraid so i hope everyone is well.

Nice to hear from you and so glad Mr PP is making a good recovery. Rehabilitation for strokes seems to be something the NHS is really good at thankfully

How lovely to see you back, Liz, and wonderful to hear that G is doing so well.

I am sorry to hear the he contracted E.coli whilst in hospital and sad that it hindered his initial recovery. However, it is good to know that he is getting about, even with the aid of a stick and the stairlift, and that his speech therapy and physio is doing the trick.

Please keep us all informed, as and when you can, and if you need to do it through me, Ally or Rodo you know that you can use us as messengers.

My thoughts are with you both. xxxxx

Thanks Frank and everyone. If things keep going in the right direction I'll have a lot more time to myself from now on (fingers crossed). He's having to cope with Myasthenia Gravis, which was diagnosed when he was in hospital so that is making it harder for him to overcome the stroke fatigue but he's getting there.

Great to see you PP and it's good to know that Mr PP is progressing well. I hope you are taking care of yourself too, because often everyone assumes the caregiver is ok as all the focus is on the patient. xxx
