NHS Appointment

When I went to see our optician at the end of February, he said he was not happy with one of the results and he would send a letter to my doctor asking for a second opinion.
Got a letter date 5th March from my doctor saying I could book an appointment at the Eye Clinic near where I live. Managed to do this on line for 16th April and received a confirmation letter in the post.
This morning, got anther letter saying the appointment had been cancelled as I should see a different consultant. So I rang the number given on the letter to try and make another appointment.
The woman I spoke to said that it was not possible to make an appointment with the correct consultant as all the available times had already been filled. The only alteration she made was to note that I would be on holiday in May.
So I phoned my doctor's surgery and spoke to one of the staff who was very helpful. She told me that appointments were available at other hospitals and I have now got one on 17th April to see a different consultant.
This lady receptionist was very helpful and clear understood that I wanted an appointment as soon as possible.
Will let you know what happens.

I've been waiting for weeks for an appointment at our local hospital
to have a hearing test and be fitted with new hearing aids. The first
time I went I was told they could not proceed with the job because my
ears wanted de-waxing, and a new appointment date was fixed. I had
my ears done at the doctors' surgery, but the day I was booked in at the
hospital, they telephoned me and said the appointment must be cancelled
as the person doing the job was off ill. They said they couldn't arrange a
further date now, but would telephone when that was possible. That was
a couple of weeks ago. What's the betting that when they do get round to
having me in, they will say that my ears want de-waxing again.

Pre empt them Aggers, get them syringed before you go

Cruiser, just bear in mind that the consultant at your new hospital won't have seen the referral yet and you may (hopefully not) end up in the same position, if the problem you are being referred to needs a particular type of consultant
