My morning's work

Yesterday's moneysavingexpert weekly email alerted me to the fact that Sainsburys have an energy supply arm, but it's operated under British Gas - and is cheaper!

So I've spent an hour getting all the details needed and now signed up, with a price promise till next March - and will have saved us £174 for the year :)
Our usage is quite low, so others should save quite a bit more.

It was quite easy; I logged onto our British gas a/c and got actual usage figures so I could get an accurate quote, and of course checked how much we'd paid over the last year.
One hour's work, £174 earned :D

di i signed with uswitch 10 days ago for gas/elec and saved £150
it was easy son did it oneline for me
i elected to pay by cash/paper bill fine
until i recieved a welcome pack last saturday saying pay on line with debit card :?
i was furiouse spent an hour listerning to very dreary music :twisted:
then was told ho no paying on line is just an option
so why didnt it just state that :roll:
i was with npower
now waiting for date to read my meter and let them know

I keep think about doing ours too, but we changed when we moved here - the builders had signed to Eon and we wanted to switch - and it took months of phone calls to final get it done, it was a right old palaver so it's kind of put me off. I think it took around 5 months in all to change from Eon to British Gas. We did end up quite well off though because our account was credited with £50 as an apology for the inconvenience and when it still dragged on we were then given £50 of Nectar points.

I'll hang on til the end of the month now.

We are with Utility Warehouse and they always send us an annual summary sometime during March and confirm what our monthly bill will be for next year.

So it makes sense to wait until we get that.

They have made it easier Jo, they all had to sign an agreement a couple of years ago.
It should just happen now, I don't have to contact B Gas and it should be switched in about a fortnight.

I've gone as far as getting quotes before, but they'd been asking for more than we were already paying, so no idea why they thought I'd go ahead :D

It is tedious all this switching but I do look on it as money I can 'earn' for us, and it's not as if I end up switching everything, every year.
Next (after Spain) am looking at a Santander 123 current a/c, which pays 3% interest - although that's taxed, it's still more than an Isa ;)

that is good Di - well done.

I can't switch for another year or so I think it is. I was given a fixed pricing by my supplier a while back which tied me in for 2 years; but the cost was really good and I got lots of Tesco points for doing so :) I was happy at the time and still am :lol:

My landlord's policy is for tenants to be on meters so I am a bit stuck for options. Mind you, there is little difference between any of them per unit price on pre-pay meters.

In one way they are quite good as I tend to keep an eye on what is being used.
