Blimey! :(

I've just been on the receiving end with a really aggressive man in the supermarket  :(

I was by the till, and he pushed his trolley past me and caught my bag and brushed against me, so I just cast him a look over my shoulder and wham "What's your problem????" "I don't have a problem, but you just caught my bag, with your trolley" Then he said something else, I can't quite remember, but it was unpleasant, so I said "Why are you being so aggressive" (as his tone of voice was really nasty, and his eyes were blazing! "Oh I can be nastier than that!!!!" he said, really glaring at me with a funny look in his eye - I thought for a minute he might be going to hit me so by this point I was a bit worried, and very shocked!

Mick was at the kiosk while all this was going on, busting a ten pound note so we could tip the boy scout who was packing for people. He came back at this point, asked the guy what was wrong, and he went off on one! So Mick just said "What's the matter, why are you being like this?" and the guy stalked off, with his wife (who had a baby in the trolley!! ) scuttling along behind him. She hadn't said a word during all this, just kept her head down - I reckon he's a big bully type (he was a mountain of a fella - about 40ish, tall, fat an bearded so rather intimidating looking TBH), and that she was a bit scared of him :? The lad behind the till said "Ohhh I am sorry about that!" but it was hardly his fault.......... :?

I was shaking at this point, and could hardly get my card out of the machine :? Mick took me to the café for a cuppa.......

I don't know what was wrong with that man, but if he carries on like that regularly he has a big problem :? :? :(

What a horrible experience Kaz (((((((((Kaz)))))))))) xxx

I was at the receiving end of something quite like that a few years ago. I had the nerve to go to a till by which a woman was standing, and she accused me of jumping in even though she was standing there with absolutely no shopping but was waiting for her husband to come along with the trolley, he was nowhere in sight when I arrived. She'd obviously spotted a quiet till so was saving the space for her shopping. She became very aggressive and abusive and like with you, the till operator apologised to me - quietly though as she still had to serve this couple. I only had a couple of items too and was served in a minute. I really shook me up though :?

Some people really need a chill pill.

Their lives must be really miserable, carrying all that anger around.

What an idiot.

Hope you're ok now Kaz.

Thanks both :) Jo that sounded horrible too - why do people need to get so het up over tiny little things?

I felt sorry for them too, imagine having to live with a man like that, and he was twice her size :? I got the feeling the child was a grandchild though, she looked mid 40's, so I'm glad for the child's sake! :?

I'm ok now I think - I'm due at a baby shower shortly so am pulling myself together!

ETA Thanks Debih, yes just imagine :? :(

(((hug))) Kaz, that really can't have been pleasant. And in all honesty it is something I'd be tempted to report the incidence to the domestic abuse hotline. Whilst there may not have been any incidence of physical abuse there and then, her reaction isn't totally normal and would make me wonder. The abuse hotline is totally anonymous and the shop should be able to provide CCTV.

Poor woman and child - and you of course - there really are some horrid people about :-(
