Picky eating

There was a thing on fb a few of us did, asking if you're a picky eater; it listed 87 food items and all you had to do was tick the ones you don't eat.
I only ticked 2, but like a lot of others, there were quite a few things I'd eat if they were put in front of me but wouldn't particularly choose.
The result of course was that I'm completely unpicky, but thinking about it, I am pretty picky ;)

There are things I happily eat, but not just any old way.
For instance, I like tinned tuna, and would take a tuna and cucumber sandwich to work with me 4 days out of 5 (it helps not to have to think early in the mornings!)
But I'd really struggle to eat that sandwich on white bread, it has to be wholemeal for it to taste right.
Likewise, once in hospital I was brought a tuna sandwich, but it was just that - tuna in white bread; without that crunch of cucumber I physically couldn't eat it!
Contrarily though, I couldn't eat a ham sandwich if it had lettuce and/or cucumber in it :D

And if that tuna sandwich had sweetcorn in it, it would go straight out of the window, you can't even take the sweetcorn out
Also don't like to eat sweetcorn put on a plate as a vegetable - it's ok added with other veg to rice, and lovely on the cob, or made into fritters ;)
There's loads more...see, I'm really picky!
Is it just me?

I'd certainly agree you've got to have SOMETHING with the tuna fish sandwich, it's awful on it's own. I'd settle for either sweetcorn or cucumber, but for preference, salad cream. Not mayo .... :D

LOL, there were a few things missing on that list that I would have ticked had they been there.

I don't like raisins when they are in food. On their own or mixed with peanuts they're fine, but once cooked - eeuurrrggghhhhh; they're just a slimy horrid shudder
Parsley and raw celery can be exterminated from this earth and I wouldn't miss them; in fact I'd host the farewell party
Offal - admittedly most of it I've never had but have no real desire to try
Marzipan, lemon peel, orange peel and those things - VIP guests at the C&P farewell party so they too can be despatched

I like fish but I don't like the bones - so generally hardly eat it. Tuna, salmon and shellfish I love though and I'd have a tuna sandwich regardless of how it came

And I'm sure there's loads more

I will pretty much eat anything put in front of me but there are things I'm really not keen on.

Celery - food of the devil. What on earth is the point of it. And cucumber - its all water, why bother. Yuk yuk (but I do like it in a tuna and cucumber sandwich!). I can't abide sweetcorn unless it is still on the cob and then I will eat it until it comes out of my ears!

I like sandwiches but won't eat them if they are made in advance so I never take sandwiches to work with me. Who wants a sandwich that's a few hours old. Unless of course it is a cheese, beetroot and salad cream one as that needs time for all the flavours to mingle together.

And sweet and savoury mixed together. Bleurgh. Whoever thought of that. Unless of course it is a crumpet topped with peanut butter and strawberry jam. Yum.

I would rather have a cavity wall insulation sandwich than a tuna one - horrible stuff.
Tinned salmon, including the bones, has to be mashed in the can juices before going in a white bread sandwich.
Sweetcorn and peas have to be cooked into thing not served as a veg.
Vinegar should only be used for cleaning brass and silver, it is not a food.
If an elephant cannot stand on a block of cheese without deforming it it is too runny.
Margarine is an emergency lubricant for dry bearings on farm vehicles. It can be used elsewhere: see below.
And what is this "Would sir like ice (water, soda) with his Whiskey?" Ask me again sunshine and that syphon is going somewhere it will need to be greased with copious quantities of margarine before it fits.

Nooooooooooooooooooo, tinned salmon must have every last tiny bone removed, especially, especially those horrible disgusting round bits :o
And it needs a bit of vinegar mashed in ;) :D
And black pepper
And cucumber of course ;) :D

I don't think I'm especially picky. I avoid pasta unless it's a last resort, and I'm not keen on herby tomato based sauces. I don't particularly enjoy pizza, but again if there's absolutely no other choice I'll have it but one slice and I'm done. Saying that though, in New York the other year I lived on slices of mushroom pizza from Famiglia, but that was as much about the mushrooms as anything - I love mushrooms.

When it comes to sandwiches I'd choose wholemeal or granary over white bread for all but bacon.
