Freecycle - I know I've said this before; but...

it never ceases to amaze me just how 'cheeky' some people can be when asking for things... of course; if you don't ask you won't get and on the other hand it is quite astounding just how much people can actually find on Freecycle and what people do give away, but this is a post that went out today. Most of the items I can understand; but the kettle bells, piano and bureau - hardly necessities to furnish a home I'd have though :D But hey; good luck to them if they get it ;)

Hi everyone, we are moving into our first home and are lacking a lot of furniture at the moment. Please see the list below. If you have anything please let us know. We are happy to do up older furniture as long as it's safe and sturdy! Wooden furniture is preferable.

wardrobe
bed frame and mattress (double, king or twin that can be double/bunk/two
singles)
coffee table
sideboard/dresser/cabinet-to put in dining room for our china etc.
shoe storage units
Dressing table with drawers
Bureau or secretariat style writing desk or unit
Kettle bells
An upright piano and stool
Kids writing desk and chair
Garden tools

And a chandelier and some crystal glasses

Seriously though, why not ask I suppose, it is amazing what some people give away :)

Do they want it delivered as well
I found freecycle very cheeky at times so I just ring cancer shop because they collect and are very quick and polite

I understand the disbelief, but I think the list will be met. It is not as though they are asking only one person to donate, they are asking the community, and isn't that what Freecycle is supposed to be about. :D

What I disliked about it was the timewasters, both askers and donators. So many of the askers never turn up, and many of those donating are not in when you call round, as arranged.

I'm with Frank, it's the timewasters that are annoying, and they probably will get all those things as others will be wanting rid 8-)
