All this bad news in the news papers

is really starting to get me down... it's just seems to be such a horrid world out there at the moment. I know I should keep up to date with world affairs but I hardly pick up a paper now or go onto any news websites etc because it's all doom and gloom and so often nothing but plain horror. And I'm usually such a positive person who can 'shrug' these things off (within reason) but it's just becoming too much.
Admittedly you then get stories about the disabled man who was attacked and the young lady who raised a vast amount of money so he could move and feel safe again; that definitely put a smile on my face but those stories unfortunately are just so few and far between.
Am I the only one?
I wonder if we could start a new newspaper reporting only happy things? Wonder if that would sell?

There are some terrible head lines meri
That I can't get out of my mind
I like the news channel And read the smallest online
But I would just like some good news
I live in hope
I ment the dm on line
It's this Kindle mind of its own

I do know what you mean Ria - the news is particularly horrific at the moment
I must admit to preferring the local news, where you just get the bare bones of the national news, and then the local stuff which in this part of the world tends to be a bit softer

The news has always been mostly bad news, today is no different. It might seem worse because we now have so many ways of accessing it 24/7 compared to earlier times when it was only the lunchtime or evening news.

You're probably right there Frank - it probably is this constant barrage of it.

You are not alone in your views, Meriad.
I find that, more and more, reading the papers or listening to the news on TV makes me angry,
fearful or disgusted. I feel sorry for the youngsters today, for the future doesn't look too good.
But at least they will know all about sex and its variations well before they leave junior school.
(I don't think that is a very good idea, though - far from it!)

I was always a devoted reader of a daily paper, part of my morning routine was to walk up to the shop to buy it and then read it at breakfast. When we moved to Miss Osc's in September, it was a longer walk and didn't really suit in the mornings, but by then, I was already tiring of the constant bad news with little attention paid to good news at all and I have not bought a daily paper since then. I thought when we got into our house and I had the same walk as from our old house that I would go back to it, but have not even been tempted. The only thing I miss is opinion pieces but generally they appear on FB or on the Irish Independent website.

Five year old, little ones being shown sex video's that are almost porn, being taught about gays and lesbians. Filling their little heads with a subject that should not even be mentioned to these little ones. No fairy stories these days, God help the future generations.
