Sorry I'm not around much at the moment.
Today I had my new listening system turned on at the hospital, which was good It was a bit of a fiddle but it's done. It works alongside my hearing aid, so that I can hear in noise...well that's the plan. I'm having a couple of problems with it, but I think it is more of a connection thing. I'll call the company I bought it from (who are really helpful) as they probably have a few tips to get things sorted. I put it on the kitchen table this evening when 4 of us were having dinner and it worked really well. I can't seem to get quite as good sound when it is on the lanyard, so need to sort that. I'm having coffee with a friend tomorrow, so will try it in a more noisy environment.

Hearing loop news... I read a report yesterday that the hospital at Swindon have 50 hearing loops! I know that Salisbury Hospital have one in an office and one mobile loop for the whole hospital. I decided to skip over Customer Care and found the names of the governors and contacted one directly with the link to the article about Swindon Hospital. He got back to me straight away and said he couldn't open the link, but was interested. He also said that the boardroom and the lecture theatre had loop systems. I told him that was great, but it didn't help patients going in to hospital  I said that if nothing else a loop system was need at the the main reception desk and in A&E. He got straight back to me and said he would sort it and make sure loops were put in there and maybe in other places in the hospital too :D

I have to say I was a bit chuffed. I shall keep an eye on that and see it's done. The next thing I'm going to do is contact all the doctor's surgeries in Salisbury and have a chat  :D

Power to the people!

It's a bit of an upward struggle because many people with hearing aids don't use the loop on their aid because public buildings and shops are not maintaining their loops...or not installing them at all. On top of that, audiology depts. are not telling their patients about the loop system and how wonderful it can be. So I'm working at both ends of the loop issue. I'll get there eventually :D
