No gas!

It is 1ºC outside (-4ºC with wind chill) and the gas has gone off. Somebody reported a leak on the road leading to our little estate and the gas men are digging it up to investigate.

So, it is into the cupboard to get a fan heater and some warm clothes, shut all doors and stay in one room. I think I will have an early night tonight as it is due to get below freezing later on.

What rotten luck, Frank.

My advice, on top of what you have already mentioned, is not to sit still
for too long, but keep moving occasionally - it doesn't have to be vigorous.

There's danger, of course, when they re-connect you, but no doubt they
will advise you of that.

Oh no Frank.

Get yourself layered up and snuggled up in a blanket/duvet.

And shove some hot water bottles in your bed.

Stay warm matey.

It is actually quite cosy in my little office with the electric heater on, and I can watch TV on the computer.

A couple of the lads came round to tell everyone to turn off appliances and that we would be notified when it came back on - about four hours. There are only about 60 units on our estate so it is not a mains main with the leak.

I was a bit worried about the pilot light on the CH boiler, but I have read the manual and when the gas pressure drops its valve closes. Once that happens it will only open again when the igniter button is pressed.

Glad you are cosy, but why do these things happen on the coldest night of the year? Oh I know its that sods law again.

Do you have a microwave so you can have some soup at least?

Yep... Sod's and Murphy's laws both together. :o

I have a microwave and I have meals in the freezer and an electric blanket.... so long as the electricity stays on! :P :P :P

Why can't these things happen in the summer
Get the duvet out and the vodka might help
Take care
