It is law that when you buy something, even a coffee  that you must be given a receipt from the till.

In the Capri, we only ever get a written one   and the couple on the table next to us (they're there every night) got one better. Fabio wrote it on the paper table cloth

The joys of getting around your taxes

an ice cream parlour here was swamped with customers and so the staff were just throwing the takings on a shelf by the till ---unfortunately for them in the waiting queue was a tax inspector :o result? 20,000 euro fine

apparently we are told that not only the shop/cafe etc have to give you a receipt ,YOU have to be able to produce it if an inspector appears

Good grief, what are the penalties on you, the customer, if you can't produce the paperwork??

Don't know how much, but you will be fined.

Our government is looking for all sorts of ways to get more money in the coffers at the moment.

There was talk the other day, in the coffee, about getting Salazar back

What is Salazar?

Don't let George Osborne see this. It will be a new way to raise taxes in the UK. Watch out Starbucks!!

Salazar was the dictator Cruiser, who ruled Portugal with a rod of iron and an army of secret police.

but as many have said, at least you knew where you stood wit him. Our politicians are so cporrupt, it's unbelievable.

Our ex-prime minister spent Christmas in jail - in France - as he is under inverstigation. Just how he managed to make a fortune of several million, when the salary was only a few thousand.
