Heard on Wednesday about a young woman who has had a major operation to replace her bowel and other parts. She was shopping in Sainsbury's when she got a phone call to say she had to get to the hospital as soon as possible. It was nineteen hours from the time she was admitted until she was taken into the intensive care ward after the operation It was done at the Churchill hospital near Oxfrod and is only the third one done in this country. Her grand parents were going to see her yesterday. She has had problems with her health for many years so hopefuly she will be able to lead a normal life now.

Thats really good news Cruiser.

I know people often moan about our health service but when you compare it to other countries it really is very good. Can you imagine having to pay for it - only the rich would get a decent service then as the poor would put off going to the doctor for fear of cost.

Fingers crossed that this girls quality of life is drastically improved.

That's wonderful, I hope she makes a quick recovery and that the surgery was a success.
The NHS really does work well doesn't it at times :)

I think it is without doubt marvellous for emergencies, the acute and very serious stuff - just falls down a bit on the day to day stuff at times, and sometimes the standards of care, rather than the medical side..................
