I've just been reading about this on our local papers website.

We have two petrol stations in our nearest (small) town - a Sainsburys one and (I think) a BP one. Not sure about the BP one as I rarely go there but the Sainsburys one is currently charging £1.14.

The local rag says that it is likely to be less than £1 a litre in the new year (though I don't generally believe a word they say!)

Our local Asda has dropped unleaded petrol to 110.7 pence per litre and diesel to 117.7 pence per litre.
I noticed that 97 octane petrol had dropped from £1.49 a litre to £1.29 a litre at the local BP garage last week.
